Bidding Support Software for Investment Good Manufacturers (DECIDE SME)

The result of the DECIDE project is a software supporting the different aspects of bidding within one-of-a-kind and small series production of investment goods. It contains modules for value analysis of different solutions taken into account and to calculate the costs for the technical solution selected. It allows to estimate the behaviour of the other bidders in the market and in this way to derive the price that could be gained at the market. On this base the tool can calculate the basis for the decision whether an offer will be sent to the customer or not. The results can be directly used in aircraft manufacturing, space industry, defence industry, plant engineering industry, telecommunication systems industry, transportation system industry, and construction industry. The modular system has been built up on the base of a SQL-based data management system, using an MS Windows-based PC as a stand-alone solution for SMEs or as an access point to the business solution of a distributed enterprise integrated to their information system. The result is implemented in a SME, "Bremer Werk für Montagesysteme - BWM". A second user is THOMSON CSF. The system was implemented at their site in Toulouse. Both implementations are integrated to the company-wide computer-based information systems. The end users contributed significantly to system enhancement through valuable feedback during the project. The DECIDE results are very positive. The end users expect an decrease in costs for a bit by about 20 %, and they estimate increase of the bid winning rate of about 10%.
