Neurocomputational determinants of decision urgency in humans

Final Report Summary - URGENCY (Neurocomputational determinants of decision urgency in humans)

The project aimed at understanding the neural and comptutational determinants of decision processes in humans” The goal was to understand how, when faced with a stream of potentially decision-relevant sensory signals, humans evaluate inputs and trade off the cost of deliberation and the benefit of information harvesting. The focus was on understanding how humans decisions may be biased and suboptimal, but nevertheless computationally efficient, using mathematical modelling and neural recordings. The results revealed a number of new context-dependent biases in human decision-making, pinpointed their neural locus, and described a general, normatively-motivated computational theory for explaining these findings.
