Preterm Feeding Maturity Measurement and Evaluation

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - PREMADES (Preterm Feeding Maturity Measurement and Evaluation)

Berichtszeitraum: 2014-10-01 bis 2015-03-31

Synchronization of sucking, swallowing and breathing is vital for the feeding and hence well-being of newborns. Most of the term infants which born after the regular gestation period have coordinated sucking-swallowing patterns whereas these abilities are underdeveloped in preterm infants. The lack of development of effective feeding in premature infants can cause serious complications such as accidental deposits of food in the respiratory tract and the lungs, respiratory illnesses related problems like brain hypoxia, infections, respiratory arrest and even death. Further, this can also cause preterm infants get tired very quickly during feeding and thus impact their growth negatively. Our product detects and analyzes the feeding maturity of preterm infants in an objective manner, by analyzing the patterns captured from non-invasive sensors. During this action, a thorough analysis of our product and our business is completed. Furthermore, a detailed commercialization plan is set forth including also the operating plan. Finally, risk associated with different aspects of the business plan are assessed and contingency actions are determined.
A feasibility report including a business plan is prepared which elaborates the future commercialization efforts for our product.
Under the guidance of this feasibility report our company will continue to develop and commercialize our product. As commercialization efforts come to fruition, that is when our product started to be used by practitioners, not only an important problem for preterm infants will be diagnosed but also better clinical decisions will be made. Additionally, global health system will benefit from successful implementation of the business idea.
