Intelligent maintenance Decision Support System for the industry

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - mainDSS (Intelligent maintenance Decision Support System for the industry)

Berichtszeitraum: 2015-05-01 bis 2015-10-31

mainDSS represents a unique disruptive solution supporting the continuous improvement of the maintenance performance, irrespectively of the industrial sector and the plant size. The main novelty of the product is the automatic Auditing of the maintenance department performance, coupled with Benchmarking and automatic provision of Recommendations.

Our chief objectives within the project were to elaborate on:
• Viability of the proposed technical activities, including risk assessment and mitigation procedures: Detailed specs were produced and feasibility of addressing 3 main technical challenges was proved. 4 main risks were identified.
• Data Management Plan for the life-cycle of our big data: 3 open data sets were identified and detailed along with metadata and procedures for managing data and making it publicly available.
• Market analysis for EU and the global market, business model and value-chain, etc.: market characteristics were identified, along with size, target segments, etc.
• IP Management and patenting investigation: FTO analysis performed and possibilities for patents analysed.
• Economic viability, financial projections, barriers towards increasing profitability and maximising ROI: PPP 33,5 months, ROI 8 times in 5-years, IRR 67%
• Marketing Plan: SWOT analysis performed, marketing plan and strategies elaborated including targets, campaigns, collaborations.
• Sales network: representatives in each EU country (stage-1) and globally (stage-2), through associated companies and collective organisations.
• Corporate exploitation options: the establishment of a new company is feasible, viable and the best approach to take.
The main aim of the project (SME Instrument P-1 grant no 674549 / ODI) was to assess the feasibility of the follow up investment needed to implement specific technical improvements of the existing mainDSS product, and more important, to prepare an elaborated feasibility study and business plan for the envisaged internationalisation phase for the commercial exploitation of the product, so as to cross national borders and reach the global market. To this end, our scope of work in this project included: i) preparing, organising and assessing feasibility of follow-on technical activities, ii) elaborating on the workability and profitability of our mainDSS business venture through a feasibility study, ii) producing a business plan for planning international business growth and sustainability.
mainDSS aims to become the point of reference for supporting the continuous improvement of the maintenance performance, irrespectively of the industrial sector and the plant size. The continuous improvement achieved by using mainDSS will have an economic impact, will result to reduction of energy and raw material usage and will promote sustainable manufacturing. The main novelty of the product is the automatic Auditing of the maintenance department performance, coupled with Benchmarking and automatic provision of Recommendations. We are considering to increase our product scope and value proposition by capitalizing further on Industry 4.0 evolution aspects which could preserve mainDSS place at the technological forefront in the future. The impact of the project will be enhanced due to our conclusion to provide open access to 3 data sets (i.e. Benchmarking, Reliability and Maintenance Recommendations Open Data Sets) and associated metadata.
