Periodic Reporting for period 1 - BIRDWATCH (BIRDWATCH, The first integral and modular mobility and security solution for smart parking management)

During the Feasibility Study Quercus aimed at assessing the commercial and technical feasibility of BirdWatch integrated and modular solution meant to improve management and security in both on-street and off-street car parks. The study also focused on analysing the parking market environment in target areas/countries, evaluating the legal and IPR framework, main risks to be taken into account in the development and commercialization of BirdWatch and designing contingency actions. A roadmap has been set and the main lines of marketing and commercialization actions have been drawn.
The commercial feasibility was evaluated by analyzing the current parking market: technology level, number of possible selling-points, main players, etc. A series of indicators were applied to each of the main countries set as target in order to determine their suitability and potential interest for the implementation of automated technologies in car parks. The competitors (direct and indirect) and their solutions were also analyzed and a map of main stakeholders was set. The legal rules and regulations were analysed in order to determine current and future conditions related to laws that regulate the implementation of automatic technologies in private/public car parks. The best IPR protection has been analysed and the technological feasibility has been assessed along with the financial one.
The Feasibility Study helped us reach unbiased conclusions about the commercial and technological feasibility of our solution. After thoroughly analyzing all the data collected and measured with specific indicators, Quercus succeeded in selecting the most suitable countries for the deployment of BirdWatch solution and discard the ones whose readiness-level for the implementation is inferior to the threshold set. After the Feasibility Study, Quercus updated its initial business plan and designed the main actions for the further development of the project.
