The U-SPEC probe has been developed, and validated as a commercial concept. This probe can be inserted in any cryostat, allowing collection of transmission spectroscopic data from solid state samples (pellets, thin films or single crystals) in the UV-Vis range. Our probe is adapted to confined spaces, works in the 2-400 K temperature range, supports high vacuum conditions, and also high magnetic fields (up to 10 T). With its versatile design, this simple probe can convert any laboratory instrumentation equipped with a cryogenic chamber into a fully operative temperature controlled spectrometer. The patented concept has been transferred to a spin-off company, Orchestra Scientific S. L. (www.orchestrasci.com) for exploitation. The first units will be available to the market by the end of 2018.
