Risultati finali

Evaluation results of QUARTZ

Results of the evaluation activities performed to assess effectiveness and efficiency of the methods for: Geometry and Deep Learning of Vector Spaces for Multimodal Information Access and Retrieval; Interaction, Logic and Languages for Information Access and Retrieval; Quantum Probability and Ranking in Information Access and Retrieval.

Multimodal Deep Learning of Abstract Vector Spaces and Adaptive Ranking Scheme

To build an integrated theoretical framework and computational methods for an adaptive representation of the multimodal content and context, and an adaptive retrieval function correspondingly; to implement a prototype system to realise the proposed computational methods.

Workshop W1 report

This deliverable provides an overview about the organization and the implementation of the 1st QUARTZ Workshop.

Non-Decomposable Semantic Indicators

To produce a solid mathematical framework for switching between linguistically naïve and linguistically more robust representations of document semantics; to integrate a formal modeling of this decision to switch into ranking; to produce a new family of ranking models that are closer to human cognition than presently possible.

Quantum Statistical Distributions for Abstract Conceptual Data

To describe the statistical behavor of concepts (seen as collections of words) on IAR with quantum statistical distributions ; to incorporate techniques to handle certain issues at the interface between IAR and Natural Language Processing (NLP) such as word polysemy and co-reference resolution will be used to improve the methodology.

Workshop W2 report

This deliverable provides an overview about the organization and the implementation of the 2nd QUARTZ Workshop.

Workshop W3 report

1st Outreach report

This deliverable describes the progress, outcomes and outlook of the project, communicated through the project website and the local regular newsletters or reports issued by each organisation, for the first period of the project.

Entanglement of semantic entities in the web

To perform a systematic analysis and test of the experimental methodologies; to identify the different forms in which entangled entities can be identified on the web; to extend these methodologies to other types of data, such as videos, and link structures.

A Transition-based Dynamic Evaluation Method based on Quantum Automata

To design and verify a novel evaluation method based on quantum automata theory, which can naturally take into account users’ dynamic relevance judgment in context-sensitive IAR scenarios.

Reasoning in Quantum Logic

To provide a language with formal syntax and semantics based on modal logic and quantum logic; for a computer-based reasoning, an appropriate calculus needs to be developed which is proved to be correct and complete.

Dynamic Content Monitoring and Exploration using Vector Spaces

To investigate an abstract vector space-based methodology to support specialists in monitoring, exploring and interacting with (thematic) issues on corpora that are unstructured, heterogeneous in terms of content and type, and involve a long time span and/or evolve through time.

Characterising Uncertainty in Feature Extraction for Document Ranking

To investigate and propose mathematical tools for considering and quantifying the degree of uncertainty in probability estimates of document features that are used for ranking; to define ranking decision algorithms when the input arguments may be fraught with uncertainty.

Quantum open systems and adaptive ranking of information items

Decision Theory Based on Contextual Quantum Probability

To investigate how humans perceive, judge the relevance of documents and make decisions about what information is relevant; to develop a geometric model of IAR which will lead to employ a novel decision theory based on quantum probability.

School report

This deliverable provides an overview about the organization and the implementation of the QUARTZ School.

Querying and Ranking Multimodal Data Using Vector Spaces

Design, Evaluation and Application of an Interactive Quantum theoretical Polyrepresentative Framework

To provide a polyrepresentative information retrieval model that is capable to react to different forms of user interaction to detect, investigate and apply dependencies between different representations and sources of evidence.

Modeling User’s Cognitive Dynamics in IAR via Quantum Probability

To provide findings about quantum-like properties when users’ relevance judgments/measurements are uncertain, interfered by the context factors, or evolving with the user’s progress in the IAR process; to predict user’s cognitive status and relevance measurements in context sensitive search scenarios.
