QoE-based optimization and proof-of-concept

Final outcomes from Task 4.3. This deliverable overarches the SPOTLIGHT research and training efforts. In this task, the ESRs will optimize their solutions under the meaningful concept of enhancing playback experience (in terms of QoE) and reducing network response time. A meaningful subset of the QoE-optimized solutions will be integrated into a common system level simulator to assess the interplay of the proposed set of technologies and solutions in light of the SPOTLIGHT measureable research objectives.

SotA Review and SPOTLIGHT metrics for the 5G and Beyond RAN

This deliverable will involve a meticulous study and taxonomy of SotA PHY technologies, 5G signal waveforms and antenna design techniques for massively distributed MIMO systems requiring minimum network control. Key performance indicators related to the design, analysis and optimization of PHY aspects and antenna designs in 5G systems will also be overviewed here (outcome of Task 2.1).

Recent trends and system concepts for cloud-based RAN

This deliverablewill embrace a detailed review of SotA system concepts, architectural components and core network enhancements relevant to 5G. Emphasis will also be given in documenting recent advances for cloud-based RAN processing, plain IP core network implementations, multi-core DSP and providing a preliminary architecture for the SPOTLIGHT network core.
