Collaborative Recommendations and Adaptive Control for Personalised Energy Saving

enCOMPASS ecosystem report

Mapping of relevant actors and stakeholders. Analysis of social, environmental and business requirements, also beyond the two pilots; identification of possible business models for exploitation of enCOMPASS, based on D7.1. An update will be produced at month 36, focusing on the various geographic areas of Europe, starting from the countries of the project partners and outlining possible business plans.

First validation report and data set

Interim report of the three pilots; integration of the consumption and comfort monitoring and deployment of behavior change apps, triggered community activity, outcome of energy saving actions, feedback from the community, interim evaluation of impact, based on KPIs set in D7.1.

Management processes

Project and risk management procedures, QA assessment, compliance to ethics, legal and data privacy, Project Management Manual.

First user tracking algorithms

Initial prototype, with documentation, of the algorithms for tracking the presence and movement of users in different indoor conditions

Policy recommentation

Policy recommendation to strengthen social and industrial impact of ICT-mediated behavior change tools for energy efficiency, backed from the analysis of the challenges and opportunities of smart metering and community engagement for utilities and public agencies.

Final overall validation and impact report

Extends D7.3: analysis of KPIs over the whole validation period; critical assessment of impact, strengths and weaknesses, threats and opportunities, exploitation potential in future scenarios, generalization to different sustainability challenges.

Visualizations, incentives, and engagement strategies

A review of motivational models in games and persuasive applications; survey of incentive models and algorithms; review of specific incentives used in sustainability challenges; recommendation of incentive models and algorithms appropriate for enCOMPASS.

SW quality assessment report

Summary of the findings of the code verification and application testing procedures. Metrics to assess quality, usability, privacy, and reliability.

Final dissemination report

Summary of communication & dissemination activities.

Platform architecture and design

Architectural design of the enCOMPASS platform: the information and data models, platform components, services, and applications, communication protocols. Integration model. Will be continuously updated to follow the three prototypes of the platform.

Validation methodology and pilot action plan

Methodology to conduct the three pilots. KPIs to be measured as success criteria (e.g. expected improvements and potential limitations). Baselines to be employed in result evaluation. Strategies for integrating with the smart sensor and meter network, for collecting data from energy users, and delivering in-context, adaptive energy efficiency recommendations.

Pilot baseline and action plan

Defines the baselines of the pilots and the action plan for community engagement, technical deployment, feedback gathering and and KPI validation.

First visualization and feedback interfaces and behavioral game concept

First design of the mappings from consumption data to persuasive visual metaphors. First version of gamified awareness apps and game concept; integration of an existing back-end supporting game/gamification. Test with users and collection of feedback.

Dissemination and communication strategy

Dissemination and communication plan.

Early exploitation and IPR plan

Partner description of initial plans to exploit the results and the foreground assets produced in the project; identification of the project exploitable assets and their IPRs.

Delivery management plan and testing specification

Description of the software development process; code management tools; documentation to set up the development and testing environments.

Final design of the mappings from consumption data to persuasive visual metaphors, with adaptation to client device, user profile and role, activity context, and building usage and type.

Platform initial prototype

Software deliverable of the initial prototype of the enCOMPASS platform. It provides the infrastructure to collect energy consumption data, first integration of the user interfaces designed in WP2, for early testing in the pilots. Source code and installation documentation.

Final behavioral game concept

Final version of the gamification and game concepts (front-end and back-end), integrated with real-time consumption and comforts data sources, user modelling, and sustainable actions recommender, adapted to the use/user contexts.

Final energy disaggregation algorithms

Initial prototype, with documentation, of the algorithms for energy disaggregation into end uses, updated after the validation in the pilots.

Final user behavior model and recommender

Validated prototype, with documentation, of the models and algorithms for determining the current status of the users and the most suitable actions to recommend based on the adaptive context detection, validated in the pilot experiments.

Behavioral change models and determinants for energy consumption

Review of behavioral change process models and determinants of energy saving behavior, as well as an overview of effective informational, and social strategies to induce sustainable changes in energy consumption.

Final activity profiling and matching detector

Second prototype, with documentation, of the algorithms for detecting the type and context of users’ activity in different indoor conditions, from exogenous and endogenous variables and adaptable based on runtime feedback, validated in the pilot experiments.

Platform second propotype

Software deliverable of the second prototype of the enCOMPASS platform, which will provide advanced gamified interfaces and will integrate with the energy efficiency game. It will be connectable with the information systems of the energy utility.

First activity profiling and matching detector

Initial prototype, with documentation, of the algorithms for detecting the type of users’ activity in different indoor conditions.

Platform final prototype

SW deliverable that provides all the functions specified in WP2. Source code and documentation for the use of the 3rd party APIs and Software Development Kit to expand the platform.

First user behavior model and recommender

Initial prototype, with documentation, of the models and algorithms for establishing the users’ status and determining the most suitable actions to recommend.

First energy disaggregation algorithms

Initial prototype, with documentation, of the algorithms for energy disaggregation into end uses

Final user tracking algorithms

Final prototype with documentation of the algorithms for tracking the presence and movement of users in different indoor conditions updated after the validation in the pilots

Data Management Plan

Adheres to the H2020 Data Management Guidelines. Survey of smart energy standards and adoption recommendations. Survey of the Open Data initiatives in the area of energy usage data; deployment plan for publication of data set. Completed early to provide necessary information to WP7, but will be updated, if new information arises, in D8.6 Final exploitation plan.
