Ziel
The purpose of this research will be to test the reliability, validity and practicability of the Personal Heat Stress Monitor for devising work/rest schedules based on the heat stress encountered by workers employed in the VLTU and continuous casting units in Hoogovens IJmuiden.
Ways and Means to Achieve the Work
1. Performance measurements for calculating appropriate work/rest schedules for workers in the VLTU and continuous casting during maintenance work:
. measurement of the following physiological values: skin temperature, rectal temperature, heart rate, fluid loss (weight loss), metabolism;
. use of the Personal Heat Stress Monitor to calculate acceptable work/rest schedules for individual workers.
2. Production of work/rest schedules on the basis of the measurements recorded and the Personal Heat Stress Monitor.
3. Evaluation of the work/rest schedules by means of physiological measurements.
