Feasibility Study has been prepared to evaluate the current situation of Biotrem (including technology, production process, logistics, sales and marketing strategy, evaluation of products by customers, organizational structure, IRR strategy), identify areas that need to be improved and develop specific solutions in order to successfully commercialize Biotrem technology – globally-unique, innovative and patented, sustainable method of processing by-products of the milling industry.
Biotrem technology addresses societal challenges of:
I) adding-value to agricultural side-products
It focuses on typical by-product generated while processing grain into flour – wheat bran. Wheat bran constitutes 30-40% of grain input, which leads to an overstock, that is difficult to store, as it begins to ferment within 3 weeks. Moreover, with supply exceeding demand, it has low commercial value, being typically used as feed for farm animals or food products like cereal.
II) decreasing long-term packaging waste
Final products are bio-based, using annually renewable agricultural side-product as production material (100% wheat bran, no additives). In result products are compostable and biodegrade within 30 days (in open-air conditions). They offer functional substitutes for conventional packaging (plastic and paper), thus decreasing the amount of long-term packaging waste. No other industrially used packaging solution offers such set of environment-friendly features.
