Electrochromic smart windows and electro tunable emitters obtained starting from dSNC-based thin films and photonic crystals.

Experimental and theoretical description of the quantum plasmon in dSNCs

Spectroscopic investigation: i) standard steady-state investigation; ii) ultrafast measurements; iii) near-field scanning microscopy and scattering-scanning near-field optical microscopy (S-SNOM) capable of probing single particle LSPR. Theoretical evaluation: i) Multi-scale theoretical models; ii) numerical tools and simulations; iii) density functional theory, tight-binding, empirical FT and local density approximation (LDA) procedures used to calculate the groundstate; iV) time-dependent LDA (TDLDA), based on the random phase approximation (RPA), to compute absorption spectra.

Dissemination of the results

Particular attention in SONAR project will be devoted to the outreach within the network, i.e. publications on scientific journals, conference proceedings and other types of disseminations.

New synthesis protocols for various dSNCs

Control over the dSNC size, shape, crystallinity and the distribution of dopants and defects, as well as surface traps to impact the plasmonic response. Different levels of vacancy doping guaranteed by coating of the dSCN by a shell or the incorporation in appropriate film structures to prevent further oxidation or reduction.
