Towards an active bypass for neural reconnection

Livrables

First four-bridge magnetic sensor

Design, fabrication and first characterization in EM shielded environment of a first version of a magnetic sensor formed by four LSMO based anisotropic magnetoresistance elements

Functional artificial neuron

Assembly of an artificial neuron: an electronic device that will generate an electrical signal equivalent to that of a neuron in magnitude and temporal scale. This will be used as testing workbench of the magnetic-field sensors.

Bypass prototype

Bypass prototype using the developed sensors and stimulating electrodes

First nanostructured electrode

Fabrication of a first version of nanowire-coated elements using template-assisted electrochemical deposition

First nanostructured electrode on neuron-accesible substrates

Fabrication of a nanowire-coated element on a substrate suitable for accesing a neural sample

Social network sites

We will create a Linked-In group, and Facebook and Twitter profiles. Using as starting point the already existing networks of MFD, we will be invite representatives from the healthcare industry to join it. We will identify, join and actively contribute to other existing social-network groups related to brain-machine interfaces, especially those applied to spinal cord injuries.

Four non-specialists lectures

We will give at least one scientific dissemination lecture per year

Organization of several events for dissemination

Every year, we will participate in several dissemination events as Open Days, Researcher’s Night, and local Science Weeks.
