Sintesi del contesto e degli obiettivi generali del progetto

FEETWELL™ is a non-invasive diagnostic device aimed at the early detection and prevention of Diabetic Foot Complications. FEETWELL™ incorporates a novel eHealth software solution with intuitive interfaces that does not require highly skilled personnel for its operation and can scan the entire foot area in less than 30 minutes. Moreover, it is the only device for this purpose that provides qualitative and quantitative data of the integrity of the foot tissue in diabetes patients. During this project, we will design two FEETWELL™ systems for two types of end users: one for health practitioners, for early diagnosis and monitoring of the DFU risk (FEETWELL™ PRO) and one for patient use (FEETWELL™ BASIC) to indicate the patient when to visit the doctor.

We have performed a Feasibility study during 4 months, focused on the technical, commercial and financial requirements of our FEETWELL™ technology. For the technical feasibility study, we have interviewed potential users (primary care doctors and podiatrists) to identify the key requirements for a diagnostic system like FEETWELL™ and with this information we have defined the minimum key product specifications for both systems (FEETWELL™ PRO, and FEETWELL™ BASIC). We have also identified the technical updates for FEETWELL™ Industrial versions. And finally, we have prepared a complete Execution Plan that includes planning, organization, risk analysis and budget. For the commercial feasibility analysis, we have assessed the targeted markets and competitors to prepare our go-to market strategy. We have also performed an IPR assessment through a Freedom-to-Operate analysis, confirming that we can freely operate in our target regions. We have also defined an IPR Strategy for FEETWELL™ technology.

Progressi oltre lo stato dell’arte e potenziale impatto previsto (incluso l’impatto socioeconomico e le implicazioni sociali più ampie del progetto fino ad ora)

The main users of FEETWELLTM will be doctors and nurses who provide care for DM patients and monitor their health parameters, and thus our main customers will be the medical offices (state hospitals, local surgeries, private clinics, consulting rooms, sanatoria) where these users develop their activity.
These users (and thus our customers) are in need for tools that facilitate routine diagnosis of DFUs.
Our system can reduce the economic burden of foot diabetes complications in 50% and improve the quality life of the patients reducing the depression and loss of productivity due the incidence of foot ulcers and limb amputations thanks to the early detection of the DFU risks with FEETWELL systems.
