Decision Support System for Human Resource Management

Objective

The HUMAN project aims to develop a prototype of a decision support system for the evaluation of human resources potential within an enterprise. This DSS will include assessment, selection of new resources and decision making, taking into account not only technical merits of newcomer and established personnel but also its behaviour culture and the culture of the company.

The system will enable:

- analysis of the identity of a person in relation to the organisation
- evaluation of the company culture and its dissemination through its members.
- identification of the strength of other cultures present in the organisation in order to detect their strong and weak points
- measurement of the adequacy of a candidate to be employed in a particular position and his/her potential (a description of the optimal skill for the post in question will also be provided).

The challenge of this project is to transfer the apparently intuitive knowledge concerning human resources provided by the experts into a software tool following the KADS methodology. This will be the first exploratory use of KADS in this application domain. The feedback will be used to improve KADS.

An important aspect of this project will be the neurolinguistic analysis of the attitudinal tests included in the system. This will be based on the latest research in neurolinguistic science.

The main result of the project will be a software tool for decision support for human resources managers, especially oriented to personnel recruitment and promotion. It will be available in different formats and architectures (due to the use of portable development tools such as Open Interface or Nexpert Object). Other results of the project will be a validation report for the KADS methodology and tools and intermediate and independent software modules for human behaviour and enterprise culture analysis.

EXPLOITATION

The consortium plans to obtain four different marketable products; the Human Behaviour Module, which will define human behaviour within the work environment; the Enterprise Culture Module, which will determine the culture and subcultures in an enterprise; the HUMAN system itself; and the Human Resources methodology.
