The SyrinJector project addresses the growing need for vaccines to firmly maintain livestock and public health, as well as the need to create a traceable, smarter, more user- and animal-friendly and advanced process that will enable a rapid, accurate, controlled and safe process. This challenge is not limited to farms and the farmer level but goes far higher in the sales chain to consumers demanding more quality assurance for the food they are buying.
At least 3 billion people are expected to join the middle class by 2050 and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) estimates that this will lead to a 60% increase in demand for high quality protein such as milk, meat, and eggs. In this context, the EU farming industry is faced with a dual challenge: to produce large quantities of high quality yet affordable meat and milk while doing so through production systems that are environmentally sound, socially responsible, and economically viable. The EU livestock sector therefore faces critical economic and social challenges related to industry sustainability, climate change, food safety, and need for traceability.
At the same time, our world becomes one big network of connections. Internet of Things trends allows almost any device around us to create and send information continuously and allow real-time valuable information to facilitate our decision making. The livestock industry is getting into this trend as well. Technology is taking the livestock industry to the next level and new trends in meat consumption will require knowing more about every single animal in the world.
The overall objective of the project is to take the SyrinJector’s unique solution for digital farming into the poultry market. For market readiness, SyrinJector has set a number of technical and strategic objectives which include the finalsiation of R&D, manufacturing of the prototypes for poultry, and Friendly User Trials with farmers in EU.
