INCIT-EV - Large demonstratIoN of user CentrIc urban and long-range charging solutions to boosT an engaging deployment of Electric Vehicles in Europe
Electric Vehicles have been recognized as a main factor to decarbonize road transport in Europe, which contributed 21% of the EU's total emissions of CO2.
However, the mainstream adoption of Electric Vehicles is still hindered by the lack of infrastructure availability, interoperability, and payment solutions as well as other user apprehension slowing their adoption.
INCIT-EV demonstrate an innovative set of charging infrastructures, technologies and its associated business models, ready to improve the EV users experience beyond early adopters, thus, fostering the EV market share in the EU.
The project seek the emergence of EV users’ unconscious preferences relying on latest neuroscience techniques to adapt the technological developments to the users’ subjective expectations. 5 demo environments at urban, peri-urban and extra-urban conditions will be ready for the deployment of 7 use cases, addressing:
Smart and bi-directional charging optimized at different aggregation levels, that has participated in congestion markets in Amsterdam Region
Dynamic wireless charging lane in an urban area in Paris, able to charge several vehicles at 30 km/h
Dynamic wireless charging for long distance (e-road prototype for TEN-T corridors) in Versailles were interoperability of CIRCE/VEDECOM systems were tested
Charging Hub in a park&ride facility in Turin with successful DC interconnection with the tram line.
Superfast charging systems for EU corridors in Tallin able to provide ancillary services and 800V charge
Low power DC bidirectional charging infrastructure for EVs, including two-wheelers, with successful V2G tests with 97% efficiency
Opportunity wireless charging for taxi queue lanes in airports & central stations, installed in Zaragoza and tested with 30 kW Zoe
These use cases pursue innovations in the current charging solutions as well as their seamless integration into the existing transport, grid, ICT and civil infrastructures.
The main objectives of the INCIT-EV project could be summarize as follows :
Goal 1: To deepen the knowledge about users’ expectations and concerns regarding EV adoption and charging infrastructure use.
Goal 2: To design a set of innovative and interoperable charging solutions in urban, peri-urban and extra urban areas following the users’ expectations and looking for their seamless integration in the existing infrastructures (transport, energy grids, ICT and civil ones).
Goal 3: To develop a Platform integrating a Decision Support System for mobility planners and a set of Applications to improve the EV user charging and driving experience.
Goal 4: To carry out a full demonstration campaign reaching TRL 8 at five demonstration environments involving seven use cases and validate the INCIT-EV Platform at two follower locations.
Goal 5: To promote the investment in charging infrastructure through attractive business models together with recommendations to solve regulatory and standardisation bottlenecks.
Goal 6: To engage mobility planners in new charging infrastructures adapted to the users’ expectations, while promoting these solutions among the users, through communication and dissemination campaigns.
