Final project report on the status of WP3 - Part 1

This deliverable will be the technical report that communicates the final outcome of WP3 (Part 1). This includes the following sections and results: (1) Mapping of AI data-processing workloads in Edge Nodes (VMware)This deliverable section consists of API specifications, implementation, and endpoints, for vertical and horizontal communication interfaces and execution between edge nodes, as well as a distributed Knowledge Base service for data propagation in edge nodes.(2) Blockchain algorithms for resource collaboration (IMC)This deliverable section consists of adaptations and optimizations to Byzantine agreement protocols used in KB from D3.1.2 based on findings of physical broadcast effects on edge resources collaboration.(3) Repository of the edge node capabilities (VMware)This deliverable section is a software system providing a service that represents a repository of edge node capabilities derived from instrumentation, monitoring, and classification sources.

Final project report on the status of WP4 - Part 1

This deliverable will be the technical report that communicates the final outcome of WP4 (part 1). This includes the following sections and results: (1) A data management framework for AI environments (UCC)This deliverable section will be a software system that provides applications at the edge nodes with access to data while ensuring data availability, co-location, replication, provenance and other capabilities as defined in the task.(2) Encapsulation of data sovereignty with data access APIs (LUH)This deliverable section will be a software system that is able to encapsulate a given dataset so that its usages are defined, agreed upon in advance, and controlled during the utilization time. The software guarantees that the data can only be used for the purposes defined and only by the target audience. The software provides access to the contained data only through its defined APIS.(3) Data handling in edge nodes (NEC)This deliverable section will consist of dataset generation to serve as inputs for AI-bound use cases, as well as software systems for their resource-efficient ingestion and processing at the edge.(4) vRAN optimizations based on AI/ML use-cases analysis (ISW)This deliverable section will identify optimization strategies for vRAN, based on the contextual information produced by the AI/ML models delivered in the work package.

D2.3. Final project report on the status of WP2 – Part 1(MLNX,M34)This deliverable will be the technical report that communicates the final outcome of WP2 Tasks (Part 2). This includes the following sections and results:(1) Offloading apps and AI. Here the following artefacts will be delivered:● The data format of the offloading apps that considers the policies and underlying (smart)-NIC● The transformations of the chosen intrusion detection policies to a set of Edge Network Functions.● The formulation of an optimal NF placement mechanism● The prototype of an appropriate constraint satisfaction-solver● The implementation of the policy and requirement enforcer that is able to monitor and verify the execution behaviour and communication patterns between a set of network devices.(2) Support of secure 5G by an edge node (ISW)This deliverable section will focus on the following contributions:● Secure edge node design for low latency communication will be proposed● Fiber and wireless connectivity will be studied● Most demanding radio protocol stack suitable for micro-data center will be identified based on possible 3GPP split option● RRM mechanisms considering hierarchy of data centers (EMDC and central one) will be studied to support KPIs for benefit of 5G implementation(3) Crypto-acceleration for secure edge node communications (MLNX)A set of pluggable HW&SW that add security at low cost to the communication between the nodes in a network as well as between the network and external entities. An implementation of a crypto-acceleration approach that secures edge node communications with low-latency for AI-related communications will also be delivered.

This deliverable will be the technical report that communicates the final outcome of WP4 (part 2). This includes the following sections and results: (1) Workflow definition language and authoring tool WP4 (ECC)This deliverable section provides a working ontology, suitable to describe data workflows as well as an authoring tool to visually create these workflows.(2) Flow-based telemetry with ML-based network analyzers (MLNX)This deliverable section is a software system providing a framework for telemetry collection of specific network infrastructure metrics, effectively streaming selected measurements to ML-powered network analyzers.

This deliverable will be the technical report that communicates the final outcome of WP3 (Part 2). This includes the following sections and results: (1) AI-based workload placement in an edge environment (LUH)This deliverable section is a trained AI software (and documentation) that accepts workloads and chooses the node(s) that should accept and execute the workload. Its decision will be based on the available data about the resources, priorities, and other constraints.(2) Improved scalability, predictability and stability for edge nodes SLAs (SSSA)This deliverable section is a set of ML model and a software service that provides forecasts of and actions based on the availability of edge nodes according to models of traffic, connectivity, and workload behaviour.(3) DevOps for edge computing supporting AI (ECC)This deliverable section provides an interface application service that allows access to the work and data flows, operations, control logics and knowledge graphs.(4) Monitoring and SLA broker incorporation for transparency and enforcement (DELL)This deliverable section is a software system that is part of monitoring infrastructure through an agent that provides resource metrics and is able to enforce corrective actions to provide SLA KPIs.

D2.4. Final project report on the status of WP2 – Part 2 (MLNX,M41)This deliverable will be the technical report that communicates the final outcome of WP2 Tasks (Part 2). This includes the following subsections and results:BRAINE Edge Micro Data Center (EMDC) prototype description and performance assessment. The prototype includes:(1) Integrated switch into EMDC motherboard (section editor: PCB). An integrated /software switch will be delivered along with all the reports and analyses obtained from high-speed simulations, thermal analysis, and latency-bounded service requirement analysis. The artefact design documents, PCBs, firmware image, and APIs.(2) Integration of HW/SW of EMDC enabling AI (CNIT). The software is packaged in unified extensible firmware interface (UEFI), board support package (BSP), and a Programmable system on a chip (Psoc.). SW API defined.(3) FPGA hardware accelerated AI application and OpenCL program for Low-PHY.
