Concept Development and Experimentation for EU Conflict Prevention and Peace-building

Project description

Innovative concept development and experimentation tailored for EU peace-building

Promoting sustainable peace and helping to prevent conflict beyond its borders is a priority for the EU. While building peace is one of the EU’s core values, it is also a big challenge. The EU-funded CDE4Peace project will explore the potential of concept development and experimentation (CDE) for enhancing the EU’s conflict prevention and peace-building (CPPB) policy. CDE can be used for the transformation of complex security systems. CDE4Peace will introduce and adapt CDE to EU CPPB by defining the requirements for an innovative CDE tool tailored for this specific policy area. The project will also define actionable policy recommendations for implementing the CDE methodology and tools in the complex EU policymaking process. An interdisciplinary methodology for applied policy research will include reviewing the concept, assessing the tools, defining the requirements and outlining recommendations for integrating the CDE methodology in EU decision-making.
