Project description
AI for innovative advertising content insertion (PSSAI - Programmatic Server-side Ad Insertion)
The passage of the media industry from TV broadcasting to over-the-top content streaming (OTT) has revealed the need for a new advertising technology able to support managing the challenges of OTT content monetisation. The EU-funded TAPPXSSAI project will create a system based on artificial intelligence that is capable of handling and inserting advertising content into streaming video. The Programmatic Server-side Ad Insertion system analyses the original video content to create metadata that allows for identification of the perfect advertisement and the right time to insert it. The proposed system will operate a huge video advertising volume that will handle Big Data in a powerful and operational system in real time.
Objective
The objective of the project is the creation of a Server Side Ad Insertion system for the media industry able to handle and insert Advertising content into streaming video. The system is based on an artificial intelligence able to analyse the original video content to create a series of metadata that allows the system to select the optimal Advertisement, as well as the optimal insertion moment, creating a targeted non-disruptive viewer experience.
The transition of the media industry from traditional TV broadcasting to online content streaming requires this kind of new advertising insertion technology to allow the media industry to monetise the new type of content in the future.
TAPPX's mobile advertising platform is currently handling over 400 Billion monthly requests for CPM advertising in mobile applications. The proposed development would handle a video advertising volume of a similar order of magnitude, which requires the development of methods for handling big data in a robust and functional system in real time.
