Agriculture production in EU and worldwide is facing a huge plea for a more sustainable and efficient agriculture to feed the growing population. There is a huge demand for fertilizer due to the growing population of the world, where without them, 50% of the world would go hungry. Until now, this has meant intensive use of fertilizers and growing production of NPK (the main nutrients of fertilizers) to ensure food security for EU. Current fertilisers pose a huge environmental risk, and act as one of the largest polluters worldwide. They contaminate the water resources with nitrates and phosphates. The presence of high nitrate levels in drinking water are considered to be dangerous to human health. This has made the fertilizer industry one of the largest environmental polluter’s worldwide, fuelling more environmental degradation. Furthermore, industrial waste management is becoming more challenging to control and ensure that all waste is effectively treated and disposed of without causing environmental damage. Agristarbio, founded in 2016, aims to contribute to a more sustainable world with realistic and economically viable environmental solutions by promoting efficient use of resources. The Company's vision is to be a global reference in the production of sustainable agricultural nutrition solutions from environmental liabilities.
To overcome the issues described above, the Agristarbio team has developed BTSys (Biosolids Treatment System), an innovative, environmental-friendly technology to transform industrial organic wastes into an efficient fertilizer without any CO2 or CH4 emissions, recycling all the nutrients. By utilising the organic waste generated from these sources to produce fertilisers, Agristarbio also addresses the environmental concern with disposal of organic waste thereby enabling circular economy and reducing significant costs in the agriculture industry.
