Borse di studio dottorali promuovono il metodo delle 3i nella scienza biomedica presso l’IRB di Barcellona
L’Istituto di ricerca biomedica è un istituto di ricerca riconosciuto a livello internazionale che si dedica a far progredire le conoscenze in merito alla salute umana mediante la realizzazione di una convergenza tra studi biologici, chimici e medici. La sua missione è quella di formare giovani ricercatori in un ambiente scientifico multidisciplinare, presso i laboratori dell’IRB. Al momento, un nuovo programma di dottorato innovativo è in fase di pianificazione allo scopo di adeguare l’offerta di formazione e il relativo sviluppo professionale al livello di eccellenza attualmente fornito. Procedendo in questa direzione, il progetto IRB_DREAM, finanziato dall’UE, bandirà 10 borse di studio dottorali della durata di quattro anni concepite per promuovere i metodi delle 3i (internazionale, intersettoriale e interdisciplinare), incentivare idee con prospettive di carriera e produrre risultati al di fuori del mondo accademico. Il progetto farà compiere dei passi in avanti alla scienza biomedica e creerà nuove opportunità di carriera per scienziati promettenti.
Obiettivo
IRB Barcelona is a world-class research centre conducting multidisciplinary research of excellence at the unique interface between biology, chemistry and medicine and devoted to understanding fundamental questions about human health and disease. One of the main missions of the Institute is to provide young life scientists with the opportunity to train and conduct research in a unique and multidisciplinary scientific environment. IRB_DREAM is an innovative initiative that will offer 10 four-year fellowships in two separate calls to young and talented researchers to undertake their PhD theses in one of the 27 laboratories at IRB Barcelona. IRB_DREAM seeks to revamp IRB Barcelonas current PhD Programme by adding an innovative dimension, namely the customization of both the training offer and career development, to its already recognised excellence in research. To implement this enhanced training approach, IRB_DREAM not only counts on a unique training offer carefully designed to promote the 3i aspect but it particularly fosters much valued secondments and other initiatives aimed at enhancing the impact of the results and the career prospects of candidates beyond academia. In this regard, the objectives of IRB_DREAM are fully aligned with IRB Barcelonas mid-term strategic objectives: to enhance the international visibility of the Institute, to boost translational research by devoting resources to new collaborations with hospitals, and to continue promoting knowledge and new technology transfer to the industrial sector. Fellows will be selected through an independent committee of experts, thereby ensuring transparency and equal treatment of all applications. All of IRB Barcelonas research programmes will be open to applications from IRB_DREAM fellows. The IRB_DREAM programme will specifically bolster the career development of highly talented scientists and strengthen the biomedical sciences in general.
