Using employee development schemes as innovative workplace-based social partnerships in learning: development of transnational training materials

Objective

OBJECTIVES
It is increasingly recognised that European businesses need to take full advantage of new technologies and organisational developments if they are to remain competitive in world markets. Although continuous development is commonplace in higher-skilled occupations, workers in lower-skilled jobs are less likely to be able or willing to access training. This project will develop, through a process of dialogue between social partners in employee development schemes, transnational prevocational training materials which will motivate workers with few qualifications to undertake further vocational learning. It will reinforce opportunities for continuing vocational training among unqualified workers by developing their readiness to learn by the use of voluntary employee development schemes which will allow them to optimise their potential in the labour market.

ACTIVITIES
There will be four transnational visits by the partners to identify common training needs of workers with few or no qualifications in both large and small enterprises and to analyse different models of employee development schemes within which the materials will be developed and piloted. The partners will then produce, pilot and disseminate a self-study workbook which will form the basis of a personal development plan and a trainers' manual for a short modular course for use in employee development schemes.
