The project advanced the modality of Q-ISM (quantum image scanning microscopy) and the related classical modality SOFISM (stochastic optical fluctuation image scanning microscopy), both of which are superresolution methods implemented in a scanning confocal microscope, to a greater readiness level. In particular, imaging was performed with commercially available detectors (rather than specialty home-built ones), and a strong link was formed with a European based-SME manufacturing these. Several demonstrations with commonly used commercial organic tags were performed. In addition, a new and improved workflow for image analysis was developed. Contacts were established with three major players in the bioimaging market, and potential paths forward are still under discussion.
