An articulated limb climbing robot

Objective



THE ADDITIONAL PROPOSAL IS TO DESIGN AND BUILD A LIGHT WlEGHT MANIPULATOR WHICH CAN BE EASILY MOUNTED ON MOBILE ROBOTIC VEHICLES SUCH AS -TELEMAN 44- AN
MANY HAZARDOUS ENVIROMENTS REQUIRE MACHINES WHICH CAN CLIMB AND CLAMBER OVER OBSTACLES, PARTTICULALRY IN SITUATIONS WHERE ACCIDENTS MAY HAVE BLOCKED NORMAL ROUTES OF INGRESS.
ROBUG III IS A SCOPION LIKE MACHINE WITH A LOW AND ENCLOSED SEALED BODY HAVING EIGHT ARTICULATED LEGS AND A CENTRAL MAIPULATOR ARM.
THE LEGS WILL EACH BE FITTED WITH GRIPPERS WHICH WILL ENABLE IT TO WALK ON CONVENTIONAL SURFACES OR CLIMB VERTICALLY IT WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO CLIMB STAIRS, NEGOTIATE LANDINGS AND PASS THROUGH DOORS.
THE VEHICLE WILL PROVIDE A WORK PLATFORM FOR MANIPULATORS, INSTRUMENTS, VISION AND NAVIGATIONAL EQUIPMENT.

THIS ADDITIONAL PROPOSAL IS TO DESIGN AND BUILD THE CENTRAL MANIPULATOR ARM.
THE MANIPULATOR SYSTEM WILL HAVE A LIGHT SIX DEGREE -OF - FREEDOM ARM WHICH FOLDS INTO ITSELF.
THE ARM WILL BE ABLE TO CARRY A STEREO PAIR OF CAMERAS THAT WILL USE THE ARM A PAN A TILT MOUNT.
THE ARM WILL ALSO BE USED TO STRETCH FORWARD AND HELP THE FOOT PLACEMENT, TELE-OPERATION OR RECOVERY IN OVERTURNING.
APPROPRIATE TOOLS WILL ATTACHABLE TO THE ARM TO ASSIST WITH OTHER MANIPULATING TASKS.
