Development of a selective extractant for iron in hydrometallurgical process solutions in order to reduce the amount of ferric sludges to be dumped as chemical waste

Ziel

To study selective liquid-liquid extraction and the appropriate extractants for iron ions from metallurgical solutions.


The main tasks in the project are as follows :

- to develop a complexing agent or extraction system selective for iron;

- to investigate phase relations, distribution equilibria, and stripping characteristics;

- to apply the data from laboratory experiments to industrial solutions and to develop a continuous processes; thus creating the means for reducing the amount of iron sludges from hydrometallurgical processes to be dumped as chemical waste.
