Etude magneto-optique de multicouches magnetiques presentant une magnetoresistance geante

Obiettivo

This project concerns the study of the structurals magnetoresistive (MR) and magneto-optic (MO) properties of metallic magnetic superlattices FeX/Y where FeX is a ordered or desordered metallic magnetic binary alloy and Y is a non
magnetic material. The purpose of this work is to measure the MO effect (longitudinal and polar) for systems with Giant Magnetoresistance(GMR) in order to find a relation beetween the two effects and to show possible new Giant Magneto-optic effects(GMO). The MO properties will be investigated using in- situ Surface MO Kerr Effect (SMOKE) magnetometry in order to measure the evolution of the magnetization during the layer by layer growth.
This study could lead to a better understanding of the origin of the specific magnetic properties such as MO and MR effects in view to optimize them for applications as sensor or recording medias.
