Ecomarble project: Methodology for the production of 3D digital models of copied objects

This result deals with the copying and digital modelling of three-dimensional objects. Copying is carried out with either digital photogrammetry or laser scanning. Then the collected point clouds are manipulated in order to form the final model and produce the STL file. The whole procedure, which is carried out by the collaborating companies Geo Analysis and Polyline, was initially developed for reproducing cultural objects. However the experience and know-how that was gained during the research can now be used for rendering services of reverse engineering and copying of any kind of object.
