Obiettivo
This proposal is to develop carbon nanotubes for use in electron guns, catalysis, and composite materials. Philips will develop field emission from carbon nanotubes for use as high brightness electron guns in cathode ray tubes and scanning electron microscopes. Cambridge will develop a large area, low temperature method to grow nanotubes on surfaces, and develop nanotubes as conducting supports for high surface area Pt/Ru catalysts made by organo-metal cluster synthesis for fuel cells applications. Max-Planck and Montpellier will develop moldable, single wall nanotube conducting composites with a conductivity of over 1 S.cm-1 at less than 0.5% nanotube loading for use in paints, electrostatic discharge protection and electromagnetic screening. CRIF, Nanoledge, and Montpellier will develop light weight structural composites from single wall nanotubes, with an improved stiffness over multi-walled nanotube composites.
