Patterning of transparent organic conducting materials for electronics

Obiettivo

Research on organic (nanostructured) materials and patterning technologies for the development of 'integrated plastic circuits' for low cost electronic applications such as plastic displays, intelligent packaging labels and electronic paper. Printing technologies and the choice of materials raise many technical and technological challenges with regard to integration in prototypes and characterization of resulting properties. As development cycles for product development decreases in time, industry would benefit greatly from a more direct approach in the design of material formulations. Important advances in this field are possible by the ability of a combinatorial approach and the variety of specialized characterization techniques to study the different organic (nanostructured) materials. The post-doctoral fellow will be involved in a feasibility and characterization programme of new functional materials and processes and in an identification of possible new electronic applications. The study will be performed in close collaboration with the in-house material scientists of the departments of New Material research, Chemical building block discovery, the analytical characterization specialists and the process development group of the Research Center for Electronic Imaging and external academic and industrial partners.
