Obiettivo
The focus of INTERBALL'2002 is on recent advances in Solar-magnetosphere-ionosphere interactions and space weather research and on the promotion of new results based on recent satellite and ground-based multipoint observations, improved instrumentation, theoretical models and development of new numerical methods for simulations. INTERBALL'2002 will be held under the auspices of Academician Professor Ivan Juchnovski, the President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS). The conference will be organised by the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) acting as a coordinator and the Solar Terrestrial Influences Laboratory at BAS (STIL - BS) will be responsible for the local organisation. The FMI is a leading Finnish research centre, with a rich experience in participation in EC and other international projects. STIL-BAS has wide experience in organising international conferences and large scientific meetings. The chair of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) Professor D. Mishev is a co-chair of the Program Committee (PC). The PC is constructed from representatives of all countries. Involved in the INTERBALL space project and of other world acknowledged scientists in the field of Sun-Earth interactions.
Co-chair of PC is Professor L. Zelenyi, Russia, a scientific coordinator of the INTERBALL project. Balkan and eastern Europe related members are E. Sarris. K Kudela, J. Blecki. Z. Nemecek. EC related members are the proposer T. Pulkinen, I. Sandahl, A. Roux, J. Sauvaud, J. Buchner, M. Roth, H. Alleyne. US and Asia related members are A. Nishida, D. Sibeck, A. Lui. Russia and Ukraine are presented by Yu. Galperin and V. Ivchenko. The PC members will be involved in reviewing the paper submissions and in summarising the results of the presented posters. The conference organisers have arranged a rich program of tutorials and invited talks and reviews. Most of the PC members are invited to give tutorials, talks or reviews. In addition invited are talks by well-established names like J. Lemaire, A Antonova, G. Zastenker, W. Calvert, V. Sergeev, O. Troshichev. Part of EC contribution will be used for covering the travel costs and expenses of some-of the invited lecturers and speakers. The conference programme will also include about 40 oral contributions and about 60- 80 contributed posters are expected. A Get Together party on the first evening and the opportunity for all posters to be exhibited during the whole conference time will facilitate informal discussions throughout the conference course. The conference will be included in the Space Calendar Web page and in the calendars of relevant international organisations. The proceedings will be published in the Cosmic Research journal.
