Obiettivo
The Centre for Europeanisation Studies (CES) at the University of Bradford invites applications form doctoral students currently registered at educational establishments in the European Union ( except in the U.K.) or an Associated State who wish to develop their skills related to the understanding and analysis of 'Europeanisation'. A period of study at CES offers students the opportunity to enhance their research skills, in an inter-disciplinary context, drawing in particular on Political Science, International Relations, and History 'Europeanisation' is understood as a multi-dimensional phenomenon, stretching across sub-national, national, and international levels. It combines a focus on the politics and policies of the European Union with that on the transitions underway in the applicant states of central and eastern Europe (CEECs) and Cyprus. It stretches across issues of institutional adaptation and policy innovation, to questions of identity, security and economic development in a fast-changing Europe. Research training in 'Europeanisation' is relevant to a variety of professional careers, and will serve the needs of policy-makers and administrators, both national and European. The CES offers a strong research environment in which to study, 'Europeanisation'. It is based in the Department of European Studies, whose research reputation is indicated by its ranking in the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) conducted on behalf of the UK Government. In this exercise, it has consistently been designated as a centre of international research excellence. Students will have access to the resources and expertise of the Research Unit on Europeanisation; the Baltic Research Unit; the European Briefing Unit; and, the University's Graduate School. Students are invited to apply to Professor Kevin Featherstone, Director of the Programme. Students may register for the programme for up to twelve months. They should send: a full curriculum vitae, including the names of two referees; an outline of their doctoral research, noting the progress to date; a statement of their linguistic proficiency; and why they are applying. Students will be expected to produce a report of their research whilst based at CES. The University of Bradford respects equal opportunities in its educational activities.
