Obiettivo This project focuses on the institutional and organizational changes that are taking place in some key economic and social areas (e.g. the innovation process, intellectual property rights, finance) with the adoption of new information and communication technologies. Clearly, there are differences in the speed of such transformations across European countries, regions and firms, and we intend to highlight such differences. The project combines qualitative and quantitative methodologies along six themes:a) the changing organization of the innovation process,b) entrepreneurship, clustering, and Silicon Valley modelsc) agglomeration and productivity,d) financial institutions,e) intellectual property rights andf) regulation and political institutions. Whenever feasible, and useful, we shall highlight policy implications from the results of our studies.
