Obiettivo
The main objective of FORM is to engineer an open adaptable framework to support the management of trusted Co-operative Inter-Enterprise Environments encompassing telecommunication facilities and business automation systems - we call this an Interprise Environment.
The operation and management of this environment is outsourced to an Interprise Provider which aims to provide the seamless co-operation of inter-organisational business processes. In a changing business environment, where co-operation between independent organisations to meet common business objectives is becoming the norm, this outsourcing enables the rapid integration of customer organisation systems with other customer or partner organisation systems.
The project will develop and validate through trials, an Interprise Management Framework based on re-usable building blocks.
Objectives:
The objectives of FORM are to:
* Develop an exploitable set of services, systems and components that aims to manage outsourced Co-operative, Inter-enterprises facilities, termed Interprise facilities
* Develop an Interprise Management Framework that provides an environment for demonstrating and publicising the effectiveness of the service, systems and components to be exploited by individual partners. This Framework will align the technologies, models and techniques used for these individual products with each other and with relevant contemporary standards.
* Publicise the Interprise Management Framework through technical dissemination, publication of guidelines and contributions to standards in order to support the marketability of the products conforming to the Interprise Management Framework.
Work description:
The major stages of work in FORM aim for the following:
1. To provide an analysis of the Business Requirements for the management of an outsourced Interprise Service. This analysis will be expressed in terms of suitable business requirements model consisting of business roles, business process descriptions and operational scenarios. This will be verified by the publication of deliverable D3.
2. To develop an Interprise Management Framework. This will consist of logical architectural guidelines, and modes for the specific management facilities need to support a flexible Interprise Management Service, i.e. an Interprise Management System Model. These two parts of the Interprise Management Framework will be verified through deliverables D8 and D10 respectively. Progress towards the completion of the Interprise Management Framework will be verified by intermediary deliverables D4 and D6 for the Management Framework and by deliverable D7 for the System Models of the management facilities supporting the Framewrk.
3. To provide a validation of the Interprise Management Framework. This will be performed by implementing the facilities of the Framework and assembling them for assessment in a trial. This validation will be performed in two stages so that the intermediary version of the Framework can be assessed and refinements be incorporated in the version assessed in the second phase. The first validation phase will be marked by deliverable D5, while the second validation phase will be marked by deliverable D9.
4. To provide a set of Guidelines for the development of Interprise Management facilities, which presents the Interprise Management Framework in an easily understandable and usable form for dissemination to industry practitioners. These guidelines will be published in the form of deliverable D11.
5. To disseminate the result of the project, namely the Interprise Management Framework and facilities offered by its constituent services, systems and components. The plan for dissemination of results to standard bodies and industry practitioners in general will be given in deliverable D2. The impact of this dissemination and plan for the exploitation of results by partners will be presented in deliverable D12.
6. To exploit the results of the industrial partners in terms of services, systems and components that may be placed in a cohesive, marketable Interprise Management Framework. Definition and improvement of the exploitation plans of each industrial partners will be done on a continuous basis all along the project life in relation with the market situation, this will be reported initially in deliverable D2 and later D12.
Milestones:
The project has defined four major milestones (project reviews) at which results, presented largely in the form of project deliverables, will be assessed by external reviewers mandated by the Commission.
The expected results of the project will be:
* A set of Interprise Management related services, systems and components that will be exploited by industrial partners from detailed exploitation plans.
* Increased awareness and understanding of Interprise Management needs and solutions by relevant industry practitioners, i.e. Internet-based business service customers and providers, management system developers and management component developers.
