Fashion On-Line for SMEs (Virtual Shops for Fashion SMEs-Benchmarking and Best Practice Pilots)

Obiettivo

FASHION ON-LINE aims at demonstrating by systematic benchmarking and the deployment of selected pilots the efficiency of innovative technologies in overcoming the main obstacles to broad adoption of B2C e-commerce by fashion SME retailers, their business partners and consumers, namely the size & fit problem (related to customers body size and shape) and the product description problem(fabric colour, garment style).Ten pilots will be deployed in Spain, Italy, Portugal & Greece, implementing novel Internet technologies for clothing products description. Representatives of Regional Authorities from regions with pronounced presence of Textile-Clothing SMEs will monitor the progress of the project, either directly (as members), or through their contacts with the regional Associations.

Objectives:
The main project technological objectives are:
a) To benchmark emerging technologies enabling size identification from body measurements, simple Virtual try-on accurate & appealing e-catalogues of clothing items, accurate on-line colour reproduction;
b) To deploy 10 pilots in Spain, Italy, Portugal & Greece, implementing novel Internet technologies for clothing products description;
c) To develop a portal, supporting & encouraging SMEs to adopt B2C e-commerce featuring a Generic fashion site demonstrator, comprehensive implementation information & guidelines, links to technology providers & benchmarking results (links to Technical Centres), continuous technology updates & on-line Consultancy facilities. Regional Authorities Representatives from regions with pronounced presence of Textile-Clothing SMEs will monitor project progress.

Work description:
The project workplan is organised so as to serve three main goals:
- to establish a systematic technology and business oriented approach to benchmarking of new B2C technologies, enabling efficient product description for apparel products;
- to develop and follow a well planned and effective roadmap from benchmarking to pilots;
- to best practice recommendations fully capitalising on the experience of highly acclaimed National Institutes and Technical Centres;
- to establish a broad network of expertise linked to the wider EU Clothing SMEs communities for the efficient dissemination of the results (best practices).

The workplan is organised along three phases (Analysis and Initial Benchmarking Phase, Pilot Deployment Phase, Best practice derivation phase) & 8 workpackages as follows:
WP0-Project management;
WP1-Business and Technology Analysis;
WP2-Technology Benchmarking and Evaluation;
WP3-Pilots;
WP4-Generic Testing site;
WP5-Best Practices;
WP6-Measurement and Evaluation of project Results;
WP7-Dissemination - Sustainability.

The phasing of Workplan activities serves the following objectives:
- The co-ordination of workpackage activities;
- The production of results at regular intervals, thus ensuring continuous dissemination and feedback from the User communities & efficient monitoring of progress.

Milestones:
M1: Agreement on a detailed Technology-to-Business needs matching framework. Results disseminated to Wider User group for validation at Workshop;
M2: Pilots installed: Phase 1 results & experiences derived from pilot developments disseminated at local events. Workshop at pilot deployment end;
M3: Derivation of Best Practice recommendations. Best Practices & overall project achievements announced at Final Conference.
