Obiettivo
The aim of the project is to ensure that a maximum of information and know-how is obtained from the 12 different wind turbine projects in the MW class supported in EC programmes and that the results are presented in a comparable way in order to facilitate wide dissemination. Finally, as the quality of the measurements underlying the results is very important, quality assurance on measurements and data acquisition systems has high priority in the project.
The coordinator will provide guidelines for the measurement systems. Based on the reports on the individual wind turbines a WEGA-II Synopsis Report will be prepared for publishing and a Project Evaluation Report will be compiled for the Commission.
The scope of work for the WEGA-II Large Wind Turbine Scientific Evaluation Project comprises coordination, technical assistance, quality assurance and evaluation. Based on the experience from the ongoing WEGA-I measurement project, a package of guidelines will be prepared. The aim is to ensure that the results and measurements will be performed and presented in a comparable way without bringing too much standardization into the work. All 12 turbines included in the project must undergo a common measurement programme which outlines the requirements for measurements and results. As the quality of the measurements is of vital importance if a comparable standard has to be obtained, the requirements of the individual wind turbines will be evaluated by the coordinator prior to commissioning of the turbines and during the measurement period.
At the request of the project teams, the coordinator will arrange technical assistance and consultancy with regard to the establishment of data acquisition systems, calibration of equipment and actual performance of measurements. The output of the project will be a WEGA-II synopsis report, outlining the main achievements of the projects of interest to the public, an evaluation report to the Commission and a final report. The Synopsis Report will be published early 1996 with the purpose of increasing the amount of general information to the public and in this way help to increase the public acceptance of wind energy.
