A fully adaptable pressure dressing system for the management of hypertropic and keloidol scars

Obiettivo

Described here is a totally new system for the treatment of skin traumas such as burns. Overcoming the limitations of previous treatments the system could allow health services to save at least 50% on the cost of skin trauma treatment (up to 200 metro). The system will also cause far less pain to the patient upon application and significantly reduce disfiguring scarring caused by skin traumas. The proposed system is based upon an adaptable bandage - currently being prototyped. This two system comprises: a universally adaptable carrier allowing the bandage to applied to any part of the body and exert a continuous and constant pressure there; and a new type of silicon gel sheet placed next to the trauma. It is proposed to develop the novel gel sheet capable of being impregnated with skin trauma treatments. To allow development, fundamental clinical research must be conducted to understand how the healing process functions, and thus allow the system to be optimised. Commercial scale production facilities will be developed to meet the predicted needs. Practical and ethical issues for meeting individual health service criteria will be addressed.
