Production of genetically modified grey mould resistant strawberry plants, the economic benefits, risks and the required ethical constraints for release of GMP

The molecular biological aspects of the final project present a new genetically modified strawberry plant with an increased resistance against the fungus Botrytis cinerea that causes grey mould. The sociological aspects of the project include a change in attitude of consumers and producers against genetically modified food products with strawberry as a model system. Based on the ethical evaluation and the models applied it is concluded that a positive evaluation in favour of commercial production of the GM-strawberry cultivars is not acceptable.
