PILOT INJECTION OF MICROEMULSION AND POLYMERS IN THE CHATEAURENARD RESERVOIR

Cel

Investigation of pilot injection of microemulsion and polymers in the chateaurenard reservoir.
An addition to the production of oil was observed from three production wells at the end of march, the percentage of oil in the pilot production wells, equal to 14% before injection attained 40% in may (40% to 60% depending on the well) and remained stable at this value until july, a decline then commenced which reached 32% by december. The oil gained by 31.12.78 represents 1,573 m3 (the difference between real oil produced and the primary production extrapolated) which is 29% of the oil in place in the area prior to injection.
This pilot injection has been carried out on the reservoir of chuelles (chateaurenard concession) in an area of 1 ha, the configuration employed was an inverse 'five pot' with sides of 100 m and with an intermediate observation well between the injection wells and the production well. The reservoir is situated at a depth of 600 m and constituted of a level of non-consolidated sandy clay of 3 m thickness which contains a relatively viscous oil (40 centi-poises).

The flood of microemulsion (964 m3) was injected the 7th of february until the 14th of march 1978, the injection of concentrated polymers was begun on march 20th and continued until the end of the year. At this date, 6,958 m3 of polymers of a cumulative total of 7,922 m3 to date have been injected (7,922 m3 is approximately 80% of the pore volume of the area.
