Cel The focus of the research is on the impact and responses relating to the rise and fall of the classical world in the northern Black Sea region facing the traditional societies of both the European mainland and the western steppes. The case studies concentrate on the Crimea with extraordinarily good preservations of find and the cultural crossroads of Ukraine. Attention is given to Greek (Crimea), Roman, Scythian, and Germanic settlements and graveyards. Fresh minor excavations are combined with studies of data, reinterpretation and publication of information. In addition, a support of theoretical archaeology will be brought forward.
