Stand Alone Wireless HDRC-Camera

Cel

The objective of the SAWC project is to enable competition in the manufacturing of an improved digital video processing system using HDRC sensor technology combined with FPGA or ASIC and Thick Film Technology. This will enable the provision of a wide variety of different types of cameras customised to users needs with a wide range of application in process control under natural light conditions. With the help of FPGA or ASIC and Microsystems / Thick Film Technology a full video processing system including camera, controller and processing unit shall be designed for visual systems with the following new functions:
- reduction of power supply,
- smaller size,
- shock resistant,
- more flexibility for further applications.
An interface for data communication of processed video signals via LAN, WLAN and ISDN is integrated. The proposed project is a technology transfer project.

Work description:
SAWC comprises the realisation of a improved HDRC camera via technology transfer in the frame of the First User Action of the IST Programme.

The proposed technologies are- FPGA- ASIC- COB / Thick Film Technology The SAWC project is basically structured in 9 Workpackages. Every Workpackage provides individual, substantial and measurable contributions to achieve the overall SAWC objectives. All workpackages disseminate their results via deliverables or milestones and contribute to the objectives of the project. 20 Deliverables are defined to continuously monitor and report the progress of the project. Besides informal co-operation of the project participants and regular meetings at the project or Workpackage level, the deliverables will be used as a formal means to distribute and exchange information within the project and thus guarantee the coherence of the work performed. Major deliverables will be made available to a broader audience to support the overall SAWC dissemination activities in the frame of Clusters and Take Up Service Node.

The workpackages include
(1) technical management,
(2) Training FPGA,
(3) ASIC Training,
(4) COB / Thick Film Technology training,
(5) COB / TFT Design,
(6) FPGA Design,
(7) ASIC Design,
(8) Prototype Production,
(9) Dissemination Activities,
(10) Measurement and Evaluation.

Milestones:
- Know-How transfer of the proposed Technologies FPGA / ASIC, COB / Thick Film Technology
- Improved specification of HDRC camera
- Technical and management Know-How of technology Transfer projects
- Prototype of HDRC Camera with full functionality and components
