National microelectronics research centre, university college cork

Cel

Description:

The NMRC was established in 1981 with a staff of 20 people. It is today the largest multidisciplinary research centre in Ireland, with staff in excess of 200 along with a significant research infrastructure currently valued at over 95 million Euro. The NMRC has created a visionary R&D environment for advanced research in Microelectronics, Photonics, Microsystems, Nanotechnology and the Environment. An important aspect of the NMRC infrastructure is the consolidation of all of its research disciplines under one roof, ensuring that visiting researchers have the maximum flexibility to conduct their research.

Application:

Access to the Research Infrastructure at the NMRC is granted to projects which have been selected on scientific merit by the User Selection Panel. Project proposals are now invited in an open call. Proposals are reviewed every two months and successful candidates can start work at the earliest availability of equipment and resources. Although principally aimed at assisting academic based research, industrial researchers can also access NMRC facilities through the RIMAC programme. The proposal form is available as a download document from the RIMDAC web page (http://nmrc.ucc.ie/access/). Alternatively further information and proposal forms are available directly from NMRC through the project manager at the above contact point. Calls for proposals are also featured in publications such as Physics World and European Semiconductor.
