Cel The main objective of the project is to examine historical foundations of management ethics. The research will concern the 13th-16th century sources. That period is considered to be the formative period of the modern society, as the origin of many institutions, such as civil communes, universities, ventures or bills of exchange and origins of market-economy mentality can be found then. The research is going to determine which trends of thought (considering mainly Aristotelian philosophy, religious concepts and c anon law, civil law, renaissance literature) and in which way influenced codes of "managing the business" (in Latin NEGOTIUM).These codes will be presented basing on the analysis of following types of texts:1) theological "summas",2) treatises on contracts3 ) commentaries on moral philosophy (especially commentaries on oeconomica dealing with managing family, household and business4) practical guides for merchants. The analysis will take into consideration the context of economic history (business practice of the epoch).
