Boosting organic fish farming in Europe
Organic aquaculture has the potential to answer Europe’s call for sustainable seafood. Unlocking that potential requires significantly increasing production. With the goal of increasing the resilience of farmed fish species, SelectOrganic is developing selective breeding programmes to naturally enhance a fish’s robustness in the face of bacterial disease and heatwaves. It is also creating new feed and reproduction technologies, as well as fish welfare indicators – all of which will help increase the production and competitiveness of organic aquaculture in Europe.
