The European Commission, DG XI, has launched an open call to tender for services relating to Directive 80/778/EEC concerning water intended for human consumption.

Owing to the experience with the Directive and in the light of new Treaty obligations, a complete review of the Directive was carried out in 1994 and, on 4 January 1995, the Commission adopted a proposal (COM(94) 612) aimed at simplifying, consolidating and updating the Directive.

Within the framework of this proposal, the Commission is now seeking tenders for a service contract with a view to supplying technical and scientific support to the "Drinking water" team of DG XI, Unit D1.
