Agreement on scientific and technical cooperation with Israel
The Agreement on scientific and technical cooperation between the European Community and Israel entered into force on 6 August 1996, following completion of the necessary formalities by the two contracting parties. The Agreement allows for the participation of Israeli research organizations in all the specific RTD programmes of the Fourth Framework Programme. Equally, research entities from the Community may participate in Israeli RTD programmes in equivalent areas to the Fourth Framework Programme. Israeli scientists may also participate in the activities of the Community's Joint Research Centre (JRC). The Agreement is the first science and technology cooperation Agreement concluded between the Community and a non-European country which allows non-European researchers to receive a financial contribution from the Community. Following the entry into force of the Agreement, Israel has recently paid the Community its contribution to the budget of the Fourth Framework Programme for the current year.
