European matchmaking platform for innovative transport and mobility tools and services

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - ENTRANCE (European matchmaking platform for innovative transport and mobility tools and services)

Periodo di rendicontazione: 2021-01-01 al 2022-06-30

ENTRANCE offers a common and legitimate European matchmaking platform and complementary off-line services that are designed to mobilise financial resources to accelerate the market access and scale up of “first of a kind” sustainable transport solutions, thereby reducing the European CO2 emissions and pollutants caused by the transport and mobility sector.
The overall concept lies in the “supply-demand-finance” triangle for all transport and mobility modes, referring to the “solutions providers-buyers-investors”. First-of-a-kind zero, or near-to-zero, emission transport solutions are identified and matched with potential buyers, financing opportunities, and knowledge on good practices on the deployment of innovative solutions as well as European and national tenders, and legislation is exchanged through the online platform.
Training and brokerage activities are offered and in addition, to de-risk the uptake of innovative solutions, ENTRANCE has set up a neutral trustee for the orchestration of purchase aggregations. Access to finance is supported through an online funding programme database and individual and personalised innovation finance advice that combines public funding, private investment opportunities, and the best mix of alternative finance models for potential uptake scenarios.
Finally, ENTRANCE has liaised with numerous EU associations and initiatives to support critical mass and achieve a coordinated effort to boost the uptake and upscaling of innovative transport solutions.
The first ENTRANCE activities were focused on the launch of the ENTRANCE EU Matchmaking platform that will be the cornerstone of the cooperation between the “supply-demand-finance triangle”. An in-depth and user-centric analysis of all the features and functionalities of the Platform was performed. Based on these results, a detailed list of both project and user requirements was developed and translated into system specifications in terms of functional and data requirements, including the logical data models on which the platform is finally based.
In addition, a desk methodology has been executed to develop a detailed map of stakeholders under the three main categories involved in the ENTRANCE platform: supply, demand and finance, and a detailed analysis of national and European funding programmes was carried out. A specific taxonomy was defined and acknowledged by the ENTRANCE partners, covering all areas of innovation and transport modes supported by ENTRANCE. Best practices and legislation for the sector were identified and published.
During the first 18 months of the ENTRANCE project, many efforts were put into reaching out to specific supply and demand stakeholders for the ENTRANCE Open Competition and Open Calls and ENTRANCE has provided individual and personalised innovation finance services to solution providers and potential buyers of innovative sustainable transport and mobility solutions. Also, ENTRANCE has organised four successful webinars combining information about i) funding mechanisms for sustainable transport and mobility solutions; ii) sustainability assessment on transport; and iii) how to use the ENTRANCE platform. Moreover, a manual for purchase aggregations was created and made available on the platform. It is a guide through the process to set up a joint purchase (purchase aggregation) and it explains the support services that ENTRANCE offers.
Significant progress was made on establishing contact with the main EU associations and initiatives in the transport & mobility sector, including the HEU Partnerships, to attract stakeholders to the ENTRANCE community. Also, a ‘Task Force On Accelerating Innovation Uptake For Sustainable Transport’, was launched, involving 8 European projects.
The Communication and Dissemination Plan was prepared to guide and strengthen dissemination and communication efforts throughout the entire length of the project. Dissemination has been enhanced through the distribution of the ENTRANCE newsletter as well as several publications on social media and presentations given to conferences.
Lastly, the ENTRANCE platform provides detailed information about privacy and legacy notices concerning the treatment of personnel data.
ENTRANCE has created the European reference Matchmaking Platform for boosting the uptake and scale up of innovative and near-to-zero emission transport and mobility solutions, by providing visibility to, matching, and further supporting stakeholders from the “supply-demand-finance” triangle, thereby accelerating the uptake of innovative solutions for the challenges that the transport sector faces to reduce its CO2 emissions. In doing so we help promote solutions that contribute to the ambitious goals envisaged by the European Commission for reducing the transport CO2 emissions by 2030 and 2050 and respond to the increasing mobility needs of people and goods thereby strengthening European competitiveness.
The ENTRANCE expected results will exceed the expected impacts set out in the topic (MG-3-8-2020) and contribute also to the Smart, green and integrated transport Work Programme in general (Global leadership and competitiveness) by contributing to:
• Maintain and extend the European industrial leadership worldwide, promoting the penetration of the latest developments in new materials, innovative processes, advanced automation, and digital technologies into all transport sectors.
• Contribute to new transport business models that are changing the way innovation is applied.
• Increase competitiveness through cooperation frameworks.
• Contribute to the development of advanced technological capabilities in transport exploiting both evolutionary and disruptive technologies which will result in strengthened global leadership and environmental protection.
