SNETP strengthening to consolidate collaboration within and beyond the nuclear sector

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - SNETPFORWARD (SNETP strengthening to consolidate collaboration within and beyond the nuclear sector)

Periodo di rendicontazione: 2022-07-01 al 2023-12-31

The Sustainable Nuclear Energy Technology Platform (SNETP) was launched in 2007 and is recognised by the European Commission as an ETIP supporting the EU to reach the objectives set out in the SET-Plan. The SNETP Association combines three pillars, NUGENIA (Nuclear Generation II & III technologies), ESNII (European Sustainable Nuclear Industry Initiative) and NC2I (Nuclear Cogeneration Industrial Initiative).

In this mid-term report (July 2022-December 2023), the main activities related to the objective SNETPFORWARD project is to support the work done within the ETIP SNETP and to allow the association to broaden its scope and influence in the nuclear sector but also outside nuclear landscape. SNETP does have a new organisation with its three committees, reinforced its collaboration with non-nuclear and nuclear partners and is able to support its project portfolio.

The overall objectives of SNETPFORWARD are:
- improve the efficiency of the SNETP
- boost innovation
- support SME
- increase the relationship with non-nuclear actors
- strenghten the relationship with nuclear actors
- support SNETP projects portofolio
In this mid-term report (July 2022-December 2023), the main activities related to the objective SNETPFORWARD project is to support the work done within the ETIP SNETP and to allow the association to broaden its scope and influence in the nuclear sector but also outside nuclear landscape. SNETP does have a new organisation with its three committees, reinforced its collaboration with non-nuclear and nuclear partners and is able to support its project portfolio.

The composition, the objectives and the work plan of the three committees were approved during the SNETP GB meeting of October 2022, at Prague.
To Strengthen the interactions between SNETP & cross-cutting collaborative projects, a coordination hub has been build-up in order to:
* Establishing appropriate communication channel
* Provide feedback on relevant information to be systematically requested by SNETP to project coordinators for knowledge management purposes and in order to facilitate projects monitoring
* Promote pooling of efforts within the different projects in terms of training, organisation of workshops, promoting mobility schemes and access to infrastructures in collaboration with the projects OFFERR and ENEN#.
* Organise webinars for coordinators with limited previous experience with collaborative projects to share feedbacks and recommendations and provide a platform (Teams) for continuous exchange.

Furthermore, SNETP conducted a study with a focus on defining scenarios for the initiation of a booster to support and maximize the participation of small entities in European collaborative projects.

Intensitive dialogue has been conducted with various stakeholders from non- and nuclear sector.

SNETP boosted its communication materials. Building on the communication materials developed in 2022, SNETP has updated some of the design to make it even more appealing and user-friendly. The new design (rollup & posters) includes a QR code to access a linktree menu leading to different digital resources and a map view that provides a quick and comprehensive overview of all SNETP members in Europe.
In 2023, SNETP's communication initiatives gained significant momentum as we effectively expanded our community outreach efforts.
In addition, highlight posts effectively showcased SNETP's participation in key sector events, fostered a focus on research by highlighting various calls for application and informed our members on published SNETP position papers as a feedback to EU consultations on various subjects related to research and energy.
We also promoted and interacted with SNETP-labelled projects and their coordinators to increase the reach and knowledge of Euratom-funded projects. The implementation of the communication strategy has paid off with 1.188 followers on LinkedIn (+125,43%), 145.418 visits on SNETP website (+220,21%). SNETP actively participated in key events throughout the year, including NDE conference, IAEA General conference, ENEF, ENLIT, WNE, SET Plan, the Central & Eastern Europe Nuclear Industry Congress, NERS 2023, Reskill EU, etc.

A new addition to our communication approach this year was the inclusion of video content. Short trailers were created to promote key events, an after-movie for the SNETP Forum was released, and eight interviews were conducted during the SNETP Forum, along with six during the WNE. These videos attracted considerable attention with 1.000 to 4.000 impressions, which had a positive impact on our visibility in the algorithms, especially on LinkedIn. In particular, the most successful videos were viewed up to 650 times, indicating a strong interest in SNETP's content.

In addition, SNETP, in close collaboration together with the European industry (represented by nucleareurope) and the nuclear safety regulators (represented by ENSREG) has contributed created the conditions actively through the European SMR pre-partnership towards for the creation of the European nuclear alliance on SMR that has been announced by the European Commission during the ENEF meeting on November, 2023 in Bratislava. This contribution have been essential, in particular with the publication of the reports worked out with the five work-streams (WS). The WS are devoted to the analysis of the market for SMRs, licencing issues, financing, supply chain adaptation and I&R&D roadmap.

Last but not least the SNETP has been growing 9 new members have joined as full members, namely: Hunatom, EPRI – EU, INRNE, NAAREA, Thorizon, University of Dunaujvaro, Copenhagen Atomics, NEEXT Engineering and Newcleo which brings SNETP to count 123 members out of 21 countries.
