WP1: Technical Readiness WP1 advances the technical quality of GGP’s infrastructure. A technical paper on analysing multimode Generations and Gender Survey II (GGS-II) data was published, offering users guidance on handling data collected via both face-to-face (CAPI) and online self-completion (CAWI) methods. This ensures robust comparability across countries. Another deliverable was the report on FAIR data documentation and dissemination, which enhanced metadata through controlled vocabularies and redesigned the data portal to improve usability. Work is ongoing on a revised technical design that will outline a more agile operational model, incorporating administrative data use and adaptive sampling strategies.
WP2: Impact Readiness WP2 aims to deepen scientific impact and stakeholder engagement. In 2023, GGP launched its first open call for new questionnaire modules, receiving 28 proposals. Five were selected for inclusion in GGS Wave 2. The updated impact report will feature refined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) aligned with infrastructure standards. Additionally, a forthcoming report on the Stakeholders Dialogue Forum will identify key actors—including policymakers, NGOs, and civil society—and formulate engagement strategies to foster evidence-based decision-making.
WP3: Financial Readiness WP3 focuses on ensuring long-term financial viability. A revised Costbook now reflects operational costs, survey expenses, and country-level variations. An updated Business Plan, currently under development, will define membership fee structures for GGP-ERIC and describe national funding pathways. The final deliverable will explore diversified funding opportunities, targeting greater resilience through external and mixed-income sources.
WP4: Legal Readiness Key progress includes the adoption of the GGP-ERIC Statutes, marking a foundational legal milestone. The Step 1 application to the European Commission is scheduled for spring 2025, with Step 2 to follow before the project ends. WP4 is coordinating with the host institution, NIDI, on hosting agreements and internal transition plans. The preparation of ERIC governance and operational documents is also underway.
WP5: Positioning in the RI Landscape WP5 highlights GGP’s complementarity with ESS, SHARE, and GUIDE. A brief was submitted showcasing synergies among these infrastructures. GGP’s unique focus on midlife transitions, work-family balance, and generational interdependencies sets it apart. The Position Paper elaborates on this uniqueness and outlines GGP’s added value. National roadmap inclusion strategies are being developed to support political and funding integration at the national level. Three regional workshops—in Montenegro (2023), Lisbon (2024), and Budapest (in preparation 2025)—foster regional engagement and capacity-building.
WP6: Overall Readiness and Governance Launched in late 2023, the Board of Governmental Representatives (BGR) now includes 15 countries and meets regularly to guide ERIC readiness. It has already reviewed and adopted several core documents and will transition into an interim General Assembly post-Step 1 submission. The Board plays a critical role in fostering national commitments to GGP-ERIC.
WP7: Project Management and Dissemination WP7 oversees project coordination and D-E-C (dissemination, exploitation, communication) activities. It successfully released a teaching dataset tailored for classroom use, simplifying data access and fostering skills among early-career researchers. WP7 also manages conference participation, outreach activities, and ongoing website development, with a new site launch scheduled for October 2025.
