Periodic Reporting for period 1 - TALOS-AI4SSH (TALOS-Artificial Intelligence for Humanities and Social Sciences)

The TALOS-AI4SSH project aims to establish a Centre on Artificial Intelligence for Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Crete (Greece), Faculty of Philosophy. The new Centre will be integrated into the University of Crete Research Centre (UCRC) for the Humanities, the Social and Education Sciences. The activities of the TALOS Centre will be directed by Christophe Roche, currently a Professor of Artificial Intelligence in France and prospective ERA Chair Professor at the University of Crete, Department of Philology. This project will expand the research and innovation potential of the University of Crete, generate new knowledge and strengthen knowledge transfer. It will also build capacity through combined academic-industry training, support SSH-informed AI policymaking, and develop digital SSH competencies.
The project started officially on March 1st.
The ERA Chair arrived to the University of Crete
Meetings of the ERA Chair with the administrators of the Research Committee of the UoC, the UoC Support Team, the members of the Rectorate of the UoC.
The Secretary of the Project, the Software Developer of the Project, the Research Group leader of the project were hired.
An important potential impact of the project is the research and education on AI for SSH, which is one of the main objectives of this project.
Key needs to ensure further success cover at least 2 areas : a) supportive regulatory and standardisation framework for foreign researchers in Greek academia, including Visiting Professors and ERA Chairs,
b) further research: further interdisciplinary research on AI
